What are sacrificial anodes

What do they protect against
Their use is necessary to prevent corrosion of metals immersed in an electrolytic solution.
Seawater, brackish water and fresh water are the three main natural electrolytes with which Tecnoseal works in cathodic protection.
Any metal immersed in an electrolyte undergoes a natural process that, over time, transforms it into one of its oxides (iron will become iron oxide), thereby compromising its electrochemical and mechanical properties.
Cathodic protection aims to design sacrificial elements (anodes) which, by their very nature, when applied in direct contact with an immersed metal, form a galvanic couple governed by an oxidation-reduction reaction, thereby slowing down the rate of corrosion of the metal over time, whilst the sacrificial element (anode) is rapidly consumed.

Production of Sacrificial Anodes
The design and manufacture of sacrificial anodes atake place entirely at TECNOSEAL’s factories in Italy.
Raw materials and components are sourced exclusively from certified manufacturers, and every stage, from the delivery of materials to the dispatch of finished products, is carefully managed and monitored directly by a dedicated in-house department.

Every TECNOSEAL anode is designed, engineered and manufactured in accordance with the chemical composition specified by the relevant US military standard.
